What is surfing?
Surfing is the sport of riding ocean waves towards the shore whilst either standing or lying on a board. The ultimate goal is to ride along the unbroken face and get barrelled!

Why should I try surfing?
There are so many reasons why you should try surfing'; it’s a great way to de-stress, be at one with nature, it’s exciting, adrenaline fuelled and a great thing for your mental and physical health. Our female only surf coaching weekends create an amazing pressure free environment to learn in.

Do I need to be fit to go surfing?
You will need a basic level of fitness. The fitter you are the easier it will be, it will definitely get your heart pumping. If you’re not the most active person, don’t worry! There are ways we can take it easier and it’s a great fun way to keep fit!

Do I need to be able to swim?
When you are learning to surf there is no need to go any deeper than waist depth water, as you will be practicing close to shore. Before we start the weekend we will ask everyone who takes part can swim a minimum of 50 metres.

I’ve never surfed before, will I be ok?
100% yes! Our weekends are catered to all levels of surfers. We have different groups for all abilities! You will not be the only beginner. We will take you through the basics and go through some general ocean knowledge to make sure you become a great confident surfer!

I’ve surfed before who wants to learn more skills and gain confidence, will I have to go through all the basics again?
No, we will send you a form to fill in which tells us your ability. You will then be grouped with like minded ladies all suited at a similar level to you. We will ask you at the start of the weekend what you would like to achieve and we do a pre surf assessment to see how you’re getting on and go from there.

I’m coming alone, will I be the only one?

No not at all, a good majority of the group come solo. We do lots of social things throughout the weekend where you will get to meet everyone, including our optional evening meal. You’ll never feel alone!

Will I be the youngest/oldest person on the trip?
This is a very common question asked and the answer is who cares? We’ve have had teenagers to silver surfers and we always have a huge mix of ages and nationalities. It’s beautiful! We all have one thing in common - we want to have fun surfing! Never let age put you off joining us - it’s one of the best things about it, we welcome EVERYONE and everyone welcomes you too!

I’m under 18, can I come?
Yes! However you need to have a disclaimer signed by your parent/guardian. Drop us a message and we can discuss this further.

What do I need to bring?
We will send you a pre weekend email with a detailed list of what to bring with you. However here is a list of what we strongly recommend:
- A re-useable coffee mug (we offer free tea or coffee onsite but ask you to bring your own mug please)
- Packed lunch and snacks for both days.
- Swimwear for under your wetsuit
- A towel
- Loose fitting warm clothing
- If you require it, any medication (for example an inhaler)
- A large USB stick (no less than 8 gig) or hard drive (compatible with a PC and Mac) to put any purchased video of your surfing on so that you can take it home with you.
- Money for photo/videos if you pre purchase this package.
- Any equipment you might have; surfboard, wetsuit, boots, gloves, hood (for winter months).
- Money for hire of equipment
- Money for evening meal

If you forget anything, don’t worry, there are plenty of shops near by.

How long are the surf lessons?
There are three surfing lessons during our coaching weekends with both beach and ocean tuition. Saturday and Sunday sessions are two hours long covering all aspects of surfing you wish to focus upon.

I don’t have any equipment, can I hire some?

You will need to bring a piece of photo ID with you (driving license is best) . We will ask you to fill in a short form on arrival and hand in your ID. This will then be held onto until the kit is returned.

Can I bring my own wetsuit?
Yes of course! If you have your own suit please bring it along but if you’re not sure about it, please ask us as it might not be suitable for the weather conditions.

What happens if the conditions are bad or waves are too small?
It’s very unlikely that we won’t be able to surf. We’re not afraid of some wind and rain, however mother nature occasionally intervenes and it’s it impossible for us to run a safe session - this is unlikely to happen, however we will always do our best to find an alternative solution. We are lucky to have many near by beaches to choose from which pick up and hide from many different swells. if it is still impossible to run a session then a voucher for the lesson missed will be issued. Please see our T&Cs for more details.

How big are the groups?
We work on a 1:8 ratio. So that’s one instructor to 8 students, however we normally have smaller groups or more instructors onboard. We will always divide the groups up into ability - so it depends how many people are at your level, but there will never be more than 1:8.

What time does the weekend start and finish?
We will send a pre-weekend email out with all your arrival times and further details, this is when we have a more accurate view of the forecast. To give you a rough idea we normally start from around 8:30 on Saturday morning, this can vary depending on the tides and conditions. Our weekend normally wraps up around 2 clock (ish) on the Sunday - again this depends on the forecast.

Are there changing rooms and locker facilities?
Yes we have women’s only changing rooms which are walking distance to the beach! We also have lockers to put your valuables in.
